I recently attended Stampin’ Up! OnStage Live in Amsterdam. I LOVE going to events with other demonstrators, we have so much fun, talking about stamps, ink and paper, sharing creative ideas, and we laugh… a LOT! One of the highlights of any Stampin’ Up! event is swapping. We all make a stack of card fronts or 3D items, and swap them with other demonstrators. It’s a great way of getting heaps of inspiration, meet new people and check out stamps you might not have bought yet! However, this time because I was chosen to be a Display Stamper (more on that soon!) I didn’t get time to make any swaps. But I still collected a few things from my Stampin’ Sisters who didn’t want me to go home empty handed (they are so sweet!). I also received two gifts from my Stampin’ Mamas, one of which I have CASE’d today.

Michelle Last gave each person in her team at the event (of which there were a LOT!) a card front featuring this fabulous stamp set. I have used this one relatively recently on my Design Team project for Stinkin’ Inkers, but I had to pull it out again to make my own version of Michelle’s card.

This is one of those cards that looks kinda messy as your making it, as the little flowers and leaves overlap… but that is where the punched flowers come it. Not only are they pretty, but they hide the mess behind!

All the stamping on this card is in Basic Black Archival ink. Then before I punched out the large flowers with the coordinating Pansy Punch, I added a hint of colour with a sponge dauber and some Rich Razzleberry ink to tie in with the card base.

This card was finished with a layer of Basic Black card stock and a trio of Rhinestones. Before I leave you today I do have a confession to make about those Rhinestones… unfortunately they aren’t available at the moment (the current ones have sold out as part of the Retiring List!) but they will be back with us when the new Annual Catalogue launches on 1st June.

Global Design Project #083 | Sparkle with Rose Wonder

Global Design Project Just Because Card using Rose Wonder from Stampin' Up!

I hope you had a great Easter weekend, and while you might be heading back to work today I thought I would attempt to brighten your day with my ‘sparkly’ entry into this weeks Global Design Project theme Challenge.

I have subscribed to the GDP emails (it’s really easy, just hop over to their blog and pop your email into the ‘subscribe to our email’ box… what this means is that my Monday mornings at work are brightened by the arrival of a new challenge into my inbox somewhere around 10:30 ish. Which is lovely, and makes Monday’s much better! So, at break time yesterday morning I check my personal emails to find this lovely email in my inbox…. what’s this weeks challenge?! Sparkles…. right, ok! Now, normally ideas will form in my head pretty quickly, not this week. I got home at 5PM and I still had no ideas. All I had was that I wanted to use Shimmery White Card stock.

Shimmery White Card stock is super pretty, and sparkly… but trying to capture the sparkle in a photograph is tricky. I have created a video over on my Instagram to give you a closer look at the sparkle.

My favourite technique using Shimmery White card stock is watercolour. Because it is a bit thicker than Whisper White it is great for watercolour backgrounds. This one was super easy and quick to create, the trick is in the Aqua Painter and making sure there is plenty of water. I added a light wash of Melon Mambo to the card stock with the Aqua Painter, and dried it with a heat tool, before adding further light layers of colour to build this effect.

Once the card stock was dry, I added two stamped flowers from Rose Wonder in Melon Mambo and the sentiment in Basic Black. I played around with the die cut flower, initially it was in Shimmery White, then Basic Black, but I finally settled on Melon Mambo, and added two trios of Rhinestones to complete sparkly look.

Make It Monday | Quick and Easy Card using Swirly Bird

Happy Bank holiday Monday! I hope you are all planning a lovely relaxing day, I am of course off to work today… the joys of working in Social Care! However, just because it is a bank holiday doesn’t mean that I haven’t made you a fun Make It Monday video, I hope you enjoy this one, I had loads of fun making it!

I was totally inspired by a sample I found on Pinterest, it used a totally different die set, but the idea of using swirly dies as flowers stuck. Swirly Bird currently comes bundles with the Swirly Scribbles dies (to save you 10%) but this bundle retires on the 31st May… you will still be able to get both the stamps and dies, but you won’t be getting that fabulous discount. You can check the Retiring list now, and don’t forget to use my Code Club Code for something extra special too!

Measurements:

Rose Red Card stock: half an A4 sheet, folded in half (21 x 14.8 cm, scored at 10.5 cm)

Whisper White: 10 x 14.3 cm

The Happy Birthday sentiment comes from Butterfly Basics (another set I am excited to see carry over into the new Annual Catalogue!), I love the mixture of fonts on this one…. I am such a sucker for a good font… especially when it’s stamped in pink!

3D Friday | Customer Thank You Treats!

Friday! Yay! I have a super quick video for you today… yes it is possible for me to make a video in less than 5 minutes. I think the main reason this one is so quick is that I had an awful tickle-y cough the day I film this and 5 minutes is about the maximum time I went between coughing fits! Oh the joys of making video tutorials! I hope you enjoy!

These sweet treat packets contain a little something for my customers, and they were part of my Customer Thank You Packs that I sent out in March. I love sending a little something to everyone that shops with me during the month. At the end of each month I make a batch of cards and a cute little something for each person who shopped with me during the month, including those who are part of my Birthday Card Club!

These particular treats use the Urban Underground Designer Series Paper and the Carousel Birthday stamp set (isn’t it fab that that stamp fits into the Decorative Label punch!). This paper is great for guy cards and projects but this dot felt more feminine to me and was perfect for these little gifts

Male Birthday Card using Nailed It! from Stampin’ Up!

Ok, so last week (before I headed to Amsterdam) I sat in my crafty office looking around, thinking “there is a card around here somewhere that I haven’t blogged yet” but I couldn’t find it. I photograph everything I make, but I had nothing in my photo files, nothing lying around the office…. but I knew I had made something that I hadn’t shared with you guys yet. I packed my suitcase, tidied up, and sat down on the sofa to relax with James before I went away…. and there it was…. James’ birthday card! I had made it in such a hurry that I hadn’t photographed it, no wonder I couldn’t find it!

So, I thought I’d share it today instead. But I have another confession to make…. this stamp set (Nailed It!) is on the Retiring List…. and the matching dies have already sold out! Global Design Project #082 | So In Love

Global Design Project #082 Just for you card using So In Love from Stampin' Up!

I am back in my craft room after spending 5 days in Amsterdam last week for Stampin’ Up! OnStage Live…. We had a great time and I cannot wait to show you the next Annual Catalogue (it is Awesome!!), but I am back, and seeing as it is Tuesday, it’s time for my entry for the Global Design Project.

I think this is a great sketch and had a great time making my card this week…. and it was a great kick start back into making things after spending 5 days talking about making things!

I did start this project planning not to use purple…. but something happened and I was drawn to Rich Razzleberry! As the Retiring List was released yesterday I realised I hadn’t used enough of my Spring Summer purchases yet, and I love this stamp set… it’s called So In Love and it has the most beautiful set of dies that coordinate with it.

I stamped the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry onto Whisper White, and then added some pretty leaves in Sweet Sugarplum stamped off once. This was then die cut using the second smallest circle die from the Layering Circles Framelits.

The stripe of Sweet Sugarplum card stock on the left hand side of the card is stamped using two stamps from the same set also in Sweet Sugarplum for a lovely tone on tone effect.

I finished this card with a length of Linen Thread wrapped around the card and a double bow (also in Linen Thread) added with a glue dot.

Hello! Welcome to StampinByHannah this week! I hope you have had a great weekend, I am in recovery mode after spending the weekend with my Stampin’ Sisters in Amsterdam (check out my Facebook / Instagram for what we got up to!)

I have a slightly different video tutorial for you today… making 6 cards from start to finish

Each month I make cards for my Customers as part of my Thank You packets. Everyone who shops with me receives a hand made card, along with a sweet treat and my monthly newsletter. I love sending these out, and they get even better when you use the Code Club Code! This special club starts a fresh each month, all you have to do to join in is add the monthly code at check out, and I will send you something special the following month!

I don’t usually give you measurements for cards, but I mentioned them in the video…. although I make cards in metric measurements (mainly because I use A4) so that is what I have put here

Measurements:

Card Base – Half A4, folded in half (I do this by taking a sheet of A4 and scoring on the short edge at 10.5 cm, and then cutting at 14.85 cm – this why I have scored and cut two cards at once)

Whisper White mat – 10 x 14.3 cm

Designer Series Paper – 9.5 x 13.8 cm

Whisper White stripe (which is the end of the piece of Whisper White when you’ve cut 4 pieces as above) – 1.2 x 10 cm

I love this Designer Series Paper…. so much that I have been guilty of hoarding it! However, as we approach the end of this years Annual catalogue it’s time to get that DSP used! This particular paper is Floral Boutique and it coordinates with the Floral Phrases stamp set (that also has coordinating dies!). This suite of products is just stunning and would make beautiful wedding stationary.

Right, that’s all for me today, I’m off to unpack and sort of laundry before I start back at the day job tomorrow!

3D Friday | Squishy Giftbag

I am loving 3D Friday, I hope you are too! I shared this giftbag project a while ago (it was for a Global Design Project Challenge!) but I realised last week that I never got round to filming the tutorial… so here it is!

This paper of Designer Series Paper has totally grown on me through the course of this years Annual Catalogue, I wasn’t sure fruit themed paper was really my thing, but I have found that I have used it a lot over the past 10 months! This particular pattern is my favourite, and so I have struggled to use it! But the next Annual Catalogue launch is quickly approaching and so I have started my mission to use up my left over Designer Series Paper!

Measurements:

Designer Series Paper: 12 x 6″ (30.5 x 15 cm)

Score on the long side at 3 3/4, 5 3/4, 9 1/2 and 11 1/2″ (9.5, 14.5, 24 and 29 cm)

Score on the short side at 1 1/2″ (4 cm)

Flirty Flamingo mat – 2 x 2 3/4″ (5 x 7 cm)

Whisper White layer – 1 3/4 x 2 1/2″ (4.5 x 6.5 cm)

This Designer Series Paper coordinates with the Fresh Fruit Stamp Set, which is where the stamped images are taken from.

I always enjoy taking part in Global Design Project Challenges, but I think the colour ones are my favourite. I love being given a set of colours I had never thought of using together and seeing what I can create, saying that this week’s colour challenge was a little different

I always enjoy using Night of Navy and Whisper White together, but that Free Choice was tricky! I have a couple of go to choices…. Watermelon Wonder or Melon Mambo…. but I didn’t want to use them this time. So I spun my Colour Caddy with my eyes closed and selected an ink that way, so ended up with Flirty Flamingo!

My current Online Card Class uses the Swirly Bird Bundle, I LOVE this stamp set. I have had so much fun making cards with Swirly Bird ready for my ladies (and gentlemen) this month. The coordinating dies not only cut out some of the stamped images, but add to the cards you make with accent pieces like this swirl!

The only (little) issue with Swirly Bird is that it doesn’t include any sentiments… however, there are some lovely sentiment sets in both the Annual and Spring Summer catalogue. This card uses Endless Birthday Wishes, (how cute is that font!) I love this stamp set, but it doesn’t come of the shelf very often… maybe I’ll have to get it out again soon!
