Farewell Painted Petals!

Stampin' Up! Indescribable gift painted petals

Just in case you have been living under a rock, tomorrow is the launch of the brand new Stampin’ Up! catalogue! which also means that tomorrow is the last day of the current annual catalogue, spring/summer catalogue, and the retiring list! so, today I’m saying goodbye to a heap of items, but tomorrow is HELLO! to a brand new set of stamps, in-colours, catalogues, tools, and heaps of those great items!

So, when I was planning out this coming fortnight, I had a great plan to do a blog post saying goodbye to Painted Petals – I have LOVED using this stamp set! and it has totally inspired me to try watercolour properly. However, when I came to making this weeks blog projects inspiration for using Painted Petals completed deserted me! I know, I know, I probably shouldn’t admit to being completely un-inspired, however, as you can see, I did manage to make a card!

Stampin' Up! Indescribable gift painted petals

I returned to my stamp stash, and pulled the other sets that are retiring from the Spring/Summer catalogue, and found Indescribable Gift. I have loved using this floral stamp too! Although I have used the sentiments from this set, the floral image is one of my most used stamps from this past few months. I have used the Painted Petals here, but just for the sentiment in the end.

The card base here is Blackberry Bliss, and I have used Shimmery White card stock for the layer. I adore this card stock, I have to admit it’s one of those things that has been sat in my card stock drawer for a few months completely unused, but I recently discovered that its great for water-colouring on, and seeing as I have run out of Watercolour paper, Shimmery Water card stock is very handy (and cheaper!).

I stamped the Indescribable Gift in Rose Red, stamped off once, before very carefully but loosely water-colouring using Rose Red, Wild Wasabi, and Crumb Cake. When water-colouring an image, you should use a waterproof ink (like Stazon) because Stampin’ Up! ink is water-based, it will move when water is applied to it, so either carefully water-colour (like I did here) or use a Stazon inkpad.

Which stamp set was your favourite from this years Spring/Summer catalogue?

Indescribable Thanks…

This card has been sat on my desk for a few weeks now. This happens sometimes, I make a batch of cards, and some of them get blogged about immediately and others have to wait. This card was actually intended for a Saturday Challenge post, as it was actually based on a cards sketch. But the dates past and I forgot to upload it! silly me!

But, it still gets its spot on the blog!

Stampin' Up! UK Indescribable gift thank you

This card is actually no longer in my possession either, as it also made it to the top of the Thank You card pile! Sometimes I batch make customer Thank You cards and sometimes I just use the cards I have made as blog samples – either way the cards you receive will have usually either been on the blog or are scheduled to be!

I also did something I don’t usually do with this card – I used 3 stamp sets! yes, 3! I try to keep my cards to 1 or 2 stamp sets, otherwise you are going to have to spend a whole heap of money to make the cards I make – and I don’t like that idea! So, I try to keep my blog projects to minimal supplies, and give you more ideas to use the items you buy over and over – I’d rather you got more for your money!

So, the 3 stamp sets I’ve used here are: Big News (for the thank you), Indescribable Gift (for the gorgeous flower blossom) and Sophisticated Serifs (for that great rectangle stamp!).

Stampin' Up! UK big news thank you card

However, I only used two colours – Lost Lagoon and Melon Mambo – varying the shade of the colour by either stamping off once, or (like around the Whisper White panel) using Vellum.

Watercolouring With Stampin’ Up! inks

So, as promised my video tutorial of the technique I showed on Saturday.

Stampin' Up! UK Easter Indescribable Gift Fantasy Stampers Challenge Watercolour

There are two ways to do this technique – I prefer to watercolour with a paint brush and water, but you could just as easily use Aqua Painters (they just haven’t landed in my shopping basket yet!).

Stamp your chosen image onto Watercolour paper with a versamark ink pad, and heat emboss with white or clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

To watercolour with Stampin’ Up! ink pads, apply the ink to an acrylic block, or, I have a glass top to my desk, so I use that – by pressing the ink pad directly onto the surface. Add a little water, and use this mixture to colour the image.

Here I have used a combination of Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, and Sahara Sand to watercolour the Indescribable Gift stamp.

Stampin' Up! UK Easter Indescribable Gift Fantasy Stampers Challenge

To create this watercolour card I stamped the image onto Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Paper in Versamark ink, and Heat Embossed it with clear Embossing powder. Then I used my inks and a paint brush to watercolour the image. I have a video tutorial for this technique coming this week, so please check back.

The colours I have used are Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, and Sahara Sand.

Mini Milk Carton

I was away last week visiting some family in Bristol, and we popped out for a loaf of bread. The shop most local to my grandparents is Lidl, and I have to admit, I have never been through the door (I usual opt to drive to the nearest big name supermarket up the road), but for a loaf of bread we decided we’d give it a try. Well, it may have been the most expensive loaf of bread I have ever bought! Because I found the Easter Chocolates!

One of the many things I love about Stampin’ Up! is the colour selection, and when I spotted these eggs they called out to me in Stampin’ Up! colours – Pichachio Pudding! Crisp Cantaloupe! So Saffron!

Stampin' Up! UK Easter Egg Milk Carton

These boxes could hold way more than the 3 eggs I have put in, but I stupidly only bought one pack! Silly me!

Measurements:

Cardstock – 5 7/8 x 8 1/4″ (14.8 x 21 cm)

Score on the long side at 2, 4, 6, and 8″ (5, 10, 15, and 20 cm)

Score on the short side at 2, 4 1/4 and 5 1/2″ (5, 10.5, and 14 cm)

Indescribably Easter

Its not long now until Easter, and so this week I have a whole week of Easter themed projects all lined up and ready for you!

Stampin' Up! UK Indescribable gift Easter

This is a really simple card, and actually the camera hasn’t picked up the stunning details of the glitter I have added to the centres of the flowers from the lovely Indescribable Gift stamp set, stamped here in Pool Party. I dotted the 2-way glue pen around the flowers, and added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

I love this stamp, it’s so beautiful just as a line image – here its been coloured sparingly with the Stampin’ Write Markers in Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, and Pear Pizzazz.

Gorgeous

What crafty projects have you planned for Easter?

Fancy Fold Friday – Waterfall card

Welcome to another Fancy Fold Friday here at StampinByHannah!

I love doing these fancy fold posts for you all, but I have to say, I need some inspiration, so, would you please be so kind as to leave a comment below with a fancy fold that you would like to see me tackle!

This card is a request from my lovely friend Kathryn.

Stampin' Up! UK Waterfall card Indescribable Gift

Usually a Waterfall card is vertical, but I had to change it up a bit, and so decided to make it sideways, I think it works.

This card uses the Brushed Silver cardstock and Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, I love neutral colours at the moment – probably something to do with still being in winter mode – its been so very cold here!

The stamp set I have used it Indescribable Gift, one of the Easter themed sets from the Spring/Summer catalogue. I know that it has been designed with the Blendabilities in mind, but I just think it is the most beautiful line image I can’t bring myself to colour it in! Here I have stamped it in Smokey Slate onto Whisper White, and the sentiment from the same set is stamped in Momento Black (my Favourite black ink!)

Measurements:

Cardbase – cut a piece of A4 length ways – put the cardstock into your trimmer with the short side at the top and cut at 10.5 cm (4 1/8″)

Designer Series Paper – 10 x 14.2 cm (3 7/8″ x 5 1/2″)

Then there are a series of smaller pieces of cardstock –

1 piece – 2.5 x 10.5cm (1 x 4 1/8″)

4 pieces – 5 x 5 cm (2 x 2″)

Cut a piece of Whisper White to 4.5 x 18 cm (1 3/4 x 7″) and stamp along the length, then cut this piece into 4 measuring 4.5 x 4.5 cm (1 3/4 x 1 3/4″)

Cut a piece of Basic Grey cardstock to 5 x 24 cm (2 x 9 1/2″) and score at 5, 7, 9, and 11 cm (2, 2 3/4, 3 1/2, and 4 1/4″) punch the end with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch

Check the video for full Instructions.

Indescribably Amazing!

As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator one of the perks is getting to order from new catalogues before anyone else. With the launch of the latest Spring/Summer catalogue, demonstrators got to order all the new goodies during December. Which I of course took full advantage of! but there are always stamps that we skip over the the catalogue. This time around it was Indescribable Gift, a great stamp set designed for Easter cards, but I totally didn’t see it! That was until it started to pop up in my Pinterest feed!

Wow, this set if gorgeous! and works wonderfully with the latest release of Blendabilities.

Stampin' Up! UK Indescribable gift

I love colouring with my Blendabilities, but I wasn’t feeling like an afternoon of playing with my alcohol markers when I made this card. Saying that, I did stamp it in Momento Black Ink, more because it’s a great black ink than its compatibility with alcohol markers. I’d stamped it once (for the very first time actually) and it hit me again how beautiful it is all over again! and made the decision to fill the cardstock with it – making my own Designer Series Paper!

I trimmed the piece to 1cm shorter and narrower than my card base, and cut a matt of Basic Black cardstock to 0.5 cm shorter and narrower than my card base.

Then I set off to find a sentiment! I have to say Painted Petals contains my favourite sentiments of the moment, I adore the mix of fonts. You Are Amazingly Amazing fits perfectly into the Extra-Large Oval punch. Stamped in Lost Lagoon, and edges sponged.

I did consider adding some bling, but I decided not too this time (I know, its shocking!) to let that beautiful floral print do all the talking!
