Just Add Ink 444 | I Like You Oh So Eclectic!

I can’t believe I almost forgot about Just Add Ink this week! But it’s ok… because although it’s now Monday afternoon, I still wanted to join in and share this card with you.

This week’s Just Add Ink was a bit of a head scratcher… use Poppy Parade and Powder Pink plus a colour of your choice! But which colour to choose?!

After spinning my colour caddy a few times I landed on Blueberry Bushel so my colour combination looks like this;

Then came my next dilemma… which stamp set to use?! Now, I’ve used Sale-a-bration goodies a fair bit recently, and then I’ve been playing with some of the new Spring Summer stamps too. So a lot of the stamps from the Annual catalogue have been sat lonely on the shelf! This led me to pull Oh So Eclectic! This is one of my absolute favourite stamp sets, and it has a coordinating set of dies that I also adore… so decision made!

I Like you handmade card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

I made a card over the weekend which I will share with you later in the week, that used Shimmery White card stock and so that was still sat out on my desk, and so this was another jumping off point for this card.

First I added a Powder Pink watercolour wash to that Shimmery White card stock and set it off to dry while I used another scrap piece to stamp those leaves in Blueberry Bushel.

Both the background die and those leaves are die cut using the coordinating Eclectic Layers Thinlits dies. This is one of those packs of dies that work well on their own as well as with the stamp set PLUS they have both cutting and embossing dies too for some fabulously dimensional projects.

Pretty watercolour wash I like you card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah for Just Add Ink

The card is finished with that cute little sentiment stamped in Poppy Parade and a trio of Rhinestones.

You’re Just Lovely with Oh So Eclectic

How to make a fun card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah You’re Just Lovely with Oh So Eclectic

I have made SO many cards this with the Oh So Eclectic Stamp and Die Bundle! I LOVE the bundles in the catalogue, not only to they ensure you get stamps and dies that coordinate, they are also a great way to save cash! When you order a bundle (with its special order number) you save 10% over buying the items separately.

Fun ways to use Designer Series paper with StampinByHannah Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Yesterday I shared a fun way to use up some of those smaller scraps of Designer Series Paper. This card also uses Designer Series Paper, but you’re going to need a slightly bigger scrap. Good then that Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper comes in two sizes… most is 12 x 12″, while some is 6 x 6″… both are perfect for card making!

The Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set coordinates perfectly with the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, as well as some other fun goodies…

Naturally Eclectic Suite…

You're So Lovely with Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

The flower in the Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set matches the one in the Designer Series Paper perfectly, particularly when stamped in Peekaboo Peach. The sentiment is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Just a quick heads up… we are due to get the Stampin’ Up! 2018 Retiring List this coming weekend (keep an eye on my Facebook Page for up to date news!)… but Designer Series Paper very rarely carries over… so if you love this paper as much as I do, I’d be grabbing it sooner rather than later as once that Retiring List goes live ALL items will go into While Stocks Last status… and I wouldn’t want you to miss out on your favourites!

How to created hard lines watercolour background with Stampin' Up! inks

StampinByHannah Techniques How to create a hard lines watercolour background

Some weeks working out which technique to share can be a struggle… but not this week! I made the card in this post last week, after I spotted a card on one of the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Facebook groups, and just had so much fun creating the background that I knew I HAD to share it!

Pretty Wedding Card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

This card would be so lovely as a Wedding congratulations, or engagement card. I have used a sentiment from the Oh So Eclectic stamp set, mainly because it coordinates with the dies… but looking at it now a Congratulations sentiment would have worked better!

This is one of those cards with lots of layers… so I will give you a quick run down:

  • Watercoloured technique on Shimmery White card stock (check the video for all the details on this one!)
  • Die cut area using the Eclectic Layers dies. The whole watercoloured panel is popped up on Dimensionals, and I have added some of the die cut pieces back in (in an almost inlay die cut style) with some Gold Glimmer Paper pieces added in too
  • Two leaves punched from Champagne Foil with the Leaf Punch
  • A vellum Everyday Label (punched)
  • Flower die cut from the Eclectic Layers dies in Blushing Bride with a Clear Faceted Gem in the centre
  • Sentiment heat embossed in White, punched with the Classic Label Punch

The focus of this blog post isn’t that card though… it’s about the techniques right!

The background is created with a fun, and quick, watercolour technique that I am calling Hard Lines Watercolour (I’m sure someone else has a better name for it!). I LOVE doing this for a quick and easy background. It’s super pretty when you use a soft colour like Blushing Bride, but it can be really striking in a bolder colour too!

Fun and pretty Valentines card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

I think I have covered everything in the video… it’s really just about adding layers, and drying in between. Using a Heat Tool really helps as the ink drys before it has time to spread out, and therefore gives those lovely hard lines! I could totally play around with this for hours… different colours, different sized paint brushes, different amounts of water all create different effects but they are all so pretty.

The panel I created in this week’s Techniques Video has also been made into a card… and you can see that if you subscribe to my emails in my Stampin’ Inspiration Monday Video!

International Blog Highlights | Oh So Eclectic Love Card

StampinByHannah International Blog Highlights Oh So Eclectic Love Card

Kylies International Blog Highlight banner

Hello! I am so honoured to be blogging this evening. Regular readers of my blog will know that this is super late for me to be publishing a blog post, but I have a special reason. I took part in Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlight in November, and was chosen in the top 10! So, tonight is the Top 10 blog hop to celebrate!

We had a theme; Love, which was the same theme as the card that I made a few weeks ago. Love…. in November / December is not really where my crafty mojo is (I’m in full Christmas mode), and so changing gear to Love was a little tricky. I pulled out my favourite Annual catalogue stamp set, and the coordinating dies though and started to play! And this is what I made….

How to make a fun Love card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

The Oh So Eclectic stamp set and the matching Eclectic Layers dies are just so pretty. A few weeks ago I spotted a card on Facebook where someone had created a card and inlay die cut the background die. You guys know I’m a sucker for a technique, and I haven’t done Inlay die cutting for ages!

Step by Step:

  1. die cut a piece of Whisper White card stock using the background die from Eclectic Layers, and remove all the diamond shapes
  2. die cut a piece of Dapper Denim card stock using the same die. Save the pieces from the inside
  3. adhere the piece of Whisper White to a card base (I’ve used Flirty Flamingo here)
  4. put a dab of glue in a few of the open areas on the Whisper White card stock, and add pieces of Dapper Denim from the die.

Kylie's International Blog Hightlights Love Card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!The piece that attracted me to this particular die set was the heart die. This die doesn’t cut but embosses a cute geometric heart pattern. I used the die repeatidley down the strip of Dapper Denim card stock, and then created a clutter of die cut and stamped pieces to finish the card.

I hope that you have enjoyed stopping off at StampinByHannah today, do check out the other Love themed projects in our Blog Hop tonight and I hope to see you again soon!

Creativity Combined Blog Hop | Thank You

StampinByHannah Creativity Combined Blog Hop | Thank You

I have something special for you today. Over the past few months I have been working super hard to improve my little corner of the internet, and today I, along with another member of the team, have organised a blog hop to say Thank You to the wonderful Sarah who has helped us all!

I am always after a new technique to try, and when I came across this one on YouTube a few weeks ago I knew it would be perfect for today’s blog post! There will be a video tutorial on this one shortly because I think it is awesome!Thank You Card featuring Die Cut Letterpress technique and Eclectic Layers Thinlits from Stampin' Up!

I have to say this photo doesn’t do this technique justice… as the leaves are embossed into the card. The technique is called Die Cut Letterpress and it is so much fun! The leaves are from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits dies. I die cut them twice out of Thick Whisper White Card stock and once from Vellum. Then layered them together using Tombow glue, the Vellum piece needs to be on the bottom for the inky bit to work.

Then, add ink to the Vellum (I dabbed an ink pad onto the leaves) and run through your Big Shot. The sandwich is important here…. I used the platform I use for embossing folders, then a clear plate, my silicone mat, card stock, Leaves, and the second clear plate. I also found that a couple of sheets of card stock as a shim helped get a good impression, but my Big Shot is on its last legs and the centre of the rollers doesn’t have a lot of pressure.

Creativity Combined Blog Hop Thank You card using Oh So Eclectic and Daisy Delight from Stampin' Up!

The Thank You sentiment is taken from the Daisy Delight Stamp set and is stamped in Berry Burst ink. The card was a little bright at this point and I really wanted to add some Black (I’m on a bit of a Black kick at the moment!). So the black strip is embossed using the Layered Leaves 3D embossing Folder, and the card is finished with a trio of Black Rhinestone jewels and some ink splatter.

Please click on the links below to see the other Thank You cards made by the Creativity Combined Team, and don’t forget to leave them all some comment love!

Oh Hello Friend….

Oh So Eclectic Online Card Class sample using Stampin' Up! UK products

I have been playing around with the Oh So Eclectic bundle for weeks while I designed the 10 projects for my Oh So Eclectic class…. and I have been sharing a few of the extras around my blog this past week. This particular card is the card that sparked the class in the first place!

Hello Friend Just Because card using Oh So Eclectic and Eclectic Layers from Stampin' Up!

This fun card uses a fun colour combination of Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy and Berry Burst. I would LOVE to see what you create with this colour combo too… you can share it with me on my Facebook Page!

Stampin' Up! Colour Inspiration StampinByHannah

A few weeks ago I filmed a video that demonstrated how to use the fabulous Multipurpose Adhesive sheets… I die cut that gorgeous Berry Burst intricate flower and added it to a piece of Vellum. This piece then sat on my desk for weeks! I wasn’t binning it, too pretty, and I knew it would find its way into a project at some point…. and this was the project. I did cut it again, so that the flower was free and adhered it to the project with a touch of Fine Tip Glue.

Oh So Eclectic Online Card Class sample using Stampin' Up! UK productsThe other flower is unusual too… it uses that Fine Tip Glue Masking technique again! Yes I am obsessed! This flower is also die cut out and added to the card with a dimensional.

The dies in this bundle are fabulous! Not only do some of them cut the stamped images, there are accent pieces too (like that lovely background piece!) and some dies that emboss rather than cut. Plus the die set also coordinates with a second stamp set too (You’re Priceless!)

What is your favourite colour combination to use at the moment? Let me know in the comments below…

Make It Monday | Oh So Eclectic Layered Tag

Make It Monday Fun watercoloured tags using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

Make It Monday

Ok, so I have a confession to make…. I was supposed to film a video for Saturday about how to use the Embossing dies that come in the die set I’ve used today… but the end of last week was a bit of a disaster and I didn’t get to it… So, I will leave my top tips for using Embossing dies down at the bottom of this post instead. And I have managed to film 4 How To… videos for Saturday for the next 4 weeks already… I don’t really know how I missed this week! Oh Well…. on with today’s project!

Make It Monday Fun watercoloured tags using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

These sweet tags have been made with the Oh So Eclectic bundle from Stampin’ Up! You can find all the directions in the video below… but here are my top tips for using Embossing Dies.

There are 3 dies in the Eclectic Layers thinlits dies that don’t cut (and a couple more in the Build a Bike set too!). These dies are designed to be used the same as a cutting die, but rather than cut they leave an impression of the image instead.

  • Use your standard cutting sandwich in your Big Shot… Magnetic Platform and two standard cutting plates
  • Use a thicker card stock for a better impression… I like using Watercolour paper, Thick Whisper White or Thick Very Vanilla
  • Add Colour with a sponge or brayer after to enhance the embossing

https://youtu.be/oI116Ukmse8

The tags were created with a 2″ wide strip of Watercolour paper… main as this is the width of the Tag Topper Punch! With the embossing dies, a hint of watercolour and some die cuts this project was done in a flash… what is your favourite quick make? Share it with me over on my Facebook Page I would LOVE to see….

Before I go… I just wanted to remind you about my current Card Class… we are using the gorgeous Oh So Eclectic stamp set and die bundle, along with the Layered Leaves embossing folder and a heap of other goodies to make 10 totally individual cards…. you can find out more HERE!

Global Design Project #106 – Oh So Eclectic

Global Design Project #106 Sketch Challenge card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

Its been a while since I took part in a Global Design Project challenge… it’s been just a little busy around here! but as soon as I saw this sketch yesterday I jumped into my craft room and created the card you can see below!

Global Design Project Sketch 106

I love a sketch with a circle… I think its because I love using circles on my cards. I am still obsessed with the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies, seriously if you don’t own these, they are an absolute must have! so handy to have a set of circles, squares and ovals… for such a good price too!

Oh So Eclectic card for the Global Design Project using Stampin' Up! products

This card uses the Oh So Eclectic stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue (have you seen my class using this set yet?) this stamp set is another one of my favourites, along with the coordinating die set and the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper too. It was a pretty simple card to put together, the strip of Designer Series Paper is layered with a die cut in Berry Burst Card stock. This die actually only cuts the inside shapes, but it is really easy to cut around it and make this fun geometric shape

Global Design Project #106 Sketch Challenge card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

Then there is a piece of Berry Burst ribbon, one of those Stitched Shapes cut from Vellum, two Classic Labels and a bow in that same Berry Burst ribbon to finish.

You can find a video of this card over on my Instagram! Its the first time I’ve done one of these short videos over on Instagram, but it was loads of fun! will certainly have to do it again!
