Make It Monday | Faux Shadow Embossing Technique

Make It Monday Video Tutorial creating a fun thank you card using the faux shadow embossing technique with Thankful Thoughts and Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up!

Make It Monday

Hello! Welcome to another Make It Monday here at StampinByHannah! I have a great card project for you this week, along with a quick, simple and fun technique using heat embossing!

I found this card on Jennifer McGuires Blog a few weeks ago, and thought it looked simple enough! So I had a go….

Make It Monday Video Tutorial creating a fun thank you card using the faux shadow embossing technique with Thankful Thoughts and Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up!

The background on this card was almost a piece of Designer Series Paper… but with the Retiring List, lots of papers have already sold out and I didn’t want to share something you might not be able to get! So, instead I created by own DSP using the Playful Backgrounds stamp set, stamped in Emerald Envy and Early Espresso.

The sentiment is the main focus of this card. To create the Faux Shadow effect the sentiment is first stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with clear powder. Then, and this is where a stamp positioning tool like the Stamp-a-ma-jig is super helpful, you stamp again but offset it slightly, heat emboss again in a colour…. and as if by magic it looks super dimensional! Awesome!

The Sentiment is also on a die cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies (I LOVE these!) to give it a little extra something!
I hope you love my card project today, don’t forget to check out the video for more details about the technique.

Customer Thank You Cards

Customer thank you cards using Thankful Thoughts Playful Backgrounds and Crazy about you from Stampin' Up! UK

I LOVE sending Customer thank you cards, I always pop something into the post to say thanks for choosing me as your Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. The fact that you have chosen to shop with me is a huge honour, and really, sending a little handmade thank you is not enough… but there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

Customer thank you cards using Thankful Thoughts Playful Backgrounds and Crazy about you from Stampin' Up! UK

Normally I wait until the end of the month to send my Thank you cards, but I made a few of these early for those lovely ladies that shopped my Buy One Get One Free sale earlier in the month. Now, I wouldn’t normally throw 3 stamp sets at one card either but I got a little carried away with the stamping! I do love Stamping you know! lol

Ok, so the sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts, the background is Playful Backgrounds and the flowers are from Crazy About You and punched with the Flower Medallion punch

I sent this card to my Aunt for her birthday at the Start of October, and I know that she LOVED it!

Birthday card using Bunch of Blossoms and Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up! UK

I have to say first of all, how fresh is this colour combination! Flirty Flamingo and Old Olive, with Whisper White. There are three stamp sets at work here (sorry!); Bunch of Blossoms, Rose Wonder and Playful Backgrounds. Those bubbles are stamped in Flirty Flamingo onto Flirty Flamingo card stock – loving a bit of tone on tone!

Bunch of Blossoms Birthday Card using Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up! UK

One of the many wonderful things about Stampin’ Up! is the coordination of products, and this card jut proves this again – the matching stamp and punch used to create the flower, the tone on tone stamping, the matching ink and card stock colours, and don’t start me on those In-Colour Enamel Shapes!

October is a little bit mad for Birthdays in my family, and this past weekend I was invited to my cousin’s daughter’s 3rd birthday party. I actually have 2 cards to share for this one event, seeing as I made a card for my mum to send (this one) as well as the card we sent too.

I could not pass up the opportunity to use the Number of Years stamp set (and actually used it on both cards, will have to remember to share that card next week!), along with Sweet Cupcake. The colours here are Rose Red and Blushing Bride, with a touch of Tip Top Taupe and Sahara Sand for the cake bases.

Global Design Project #045

Global Design Project Colour Challenge card featuring Garden in Bloom and Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up! UK

It has been so long since I took part in a challenge, I have really missed it. Anyway, I have been trying to get this card posted all week and seeing as I have finally found 10 minutes to get this blog post written, now appears to be the time!

Global Design Project Colour Challenge

I love this colour combination! So classy, but not a colour combo I reach for often!

Global Design Project Colour Challenge card featuring Garden in Bloom and Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up! UK

There are two stamp sets at work here; Garden in Bloom and Playful Backgrounds. The Flower is stamped in Melon Mambo and Basic Black before being fussy cut. While the stripy background is a stamp from Playful Backgrounds and has been stamped and then stamped again without re-inking to create this two tone effect

Global Design Project Colour challenge Garden in Bloom Playful Backgrounds Stampin' Up! Uk

I couldn’t help but to add something a little bit extra to this fairly simple card, I am obsessed with the Metallic threads at the moment and some loops of silver were just what this card needed.

Thanks so much for checking out my blog today, and I hope to see you all again here soon

Playful Designer Tin of Cards Card!

Designer Tin of Cards Playful Backgrounds Thank you card featuring Stampin' Up! UK products

I just LOVE being a part of Stampin’ Up! Last month, one of my demonstrator sisters organised a fabulous card swap. Card swaps are a great way of getting heaps of idea and inspiration, as well as giving me even more cards to share with you at classes and live events. I actually used one of the cards I received as part of the card swap as inspiration for one of my Make and Takes last night at my 2016 Catalogue Launch Party (and I will share that card with you next week!)

Designer Tin of Cards Playful Backgrounds Thank you card featuring Stampin' Up! UK productsThis was my swap card. I received the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set and Playful Backgrounds during a Stampin’ Up! event in April. I have already made heaps of cards with Playful Backgrounds but this was the first time I bust out the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set!

I am still totally obsessed with colour and the colour combination on this card is one I just adore; Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake. I made 12 of these cards is a flash! just a bit of simple stamping. LOVE!

Pinkies Blog Hop | Annual Catalogue Sneak Peaks

Masked Note Cards set Featuring Love You Lots In Colours Dapper Denim Emerald Envy Sweet Sugarplum Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Up! UK

blog hop logo (1)

Thank you for joining us on another Pinkies Blog Hop! We’re showcasing lots of gorgeous projects using products from the new Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalogue. Simply use the buttons at the end of each post to keep hopping!

Note cards featuring Love You Lots from Stampin' Up! UK

I am in love with this years new In-Colours! I thought I would share 4 of them here today, purely because my chosen stamp set only has 4 stamps! So, let me introduce you to; Sweet Sugarplum, Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo! The fifth colour is a beautiful orangey/peach called Peekaboo Peach, and I will be sharing a card featuring it on Saturday.

Dapper Demin Love you lots masking note card Stampin' Up! UK

I decided to make a set of note cards for today’s Pinkies Blog Hop, featuring a couple of my favourite stamp sets from the upcoming Annual Catalogue, as well as a technique I found recently whilst trawling through Pinterest – Masking using the fabulous Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

The Stamp set is called Love you Lots. I am head over heals for this one, super cute animals and a couple of sweet sentiments – I am sold! This is one of the new Hostess Exclusives launching on 1st June, and available to order when you host an event or spend over £150 in a single order. I

I first stamped the cute animals in Archival Basic Black ink and gave them a minute or two to dry before covering the stamped image with the Fine-Tip glue pen. The metal tip makes it super easy to ‘colour in’ the image, making sure that the whole image is covered. It takes a couple of hours to dry, I have used this technique on some cards that are going out with my catalogues this week and I left those over night, but a couple of hours is really all you need.

Emerald Envy Note Card featuring Love You Lots from Stampin' Up!Then once the image is dry, I stamped over them with another new stamp set; Playful Backgrounds. I’m loving this set too! 4 cool backgrounds that you can layer and extend. After stamping I also sponged more ink onto the corner of each piece, the ink that lands on the dry glue just wipes away as the glue acts as a resist, leaving the stamped critters white while the rest of the area is coloured.

Masked Note Cards set Featuring Love You Lots In Colours Dapper Denim Emerald Envy Sweet Sugarplum Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Up! UKHere is the complete set, as you can see I made a couple of boo-boos with the glue on the Ladybirds and the Hedgehogs, but they are still super cute! I will be sharing the other cards I made with the same technique next week after the arrive with my customers.

Have fun around the rest of the hop, I can’t wait to see what the other Pinkies have made!
