Sale-a-bration | Thank You Eclectic Expressions

Fabulous Sale-a-bration Thank You card using Ombre Stamping and the Eclectic Expressions Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Sale-a-bration | Thank You Eclectic Expressions

I have been having heaps of fun with the Eclectic Expressions Stamp set. This is one of the sets that are available for FREE with a £45 order during Sale-a-bration (which ends on the 31st March!). When Eclectic Expressions first arrived in my craft room the first thing I saw was a fun Ombre pattern with those circles… and this card was born!

How to make a fun Thank you card using Eclectic Expressions from Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration

To create the fun Ombre I stamped two rows of each colour using the large circle stamp from Eclectic Expressions. I did try to create that mid-century circle effect… and I am sure that if I had had my Stamparatus when I stamped this I would have been more successful… but I still really love the effect created

The sentiment is also from Eclectic Expressions, and it’s stamped in Berry Burst onto a 1″ (2.5 cm) tall piece of Vellum which I wrapped around the card. I LOVE using Vellum on my cards, and this is definately one of my favourite ways of adding a sentiment too. The trick here is to stamp the sentiment FIRST… like, before you stamp anything else. This gives the ink plenty of time to dry, or you could add a layer of Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat emboss the sentiment for a quicker dry time

Fun Ombre Stamping Thank you card using Eclectic Expressions from Stampin' Up!

To stop the sentiment getting lost in all that Ombre Stamping, I added a couple of punched elements behind. There is a Whisper White Everyday Label and a Pool Party Classic Label, along with a couple of Leaves punched from Champagne foil and a trio of Glitter Enamel Dots to finish.

StampinByHannah Make It Monday | Fold Over top mini gift bag using Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper

Make It Monday

I don’t know about you but I have started to prepare for Easter.. (I probably should be preparing for Mother’s Day to, but I haven’t even thought about it yet! and its on Sunday!!!). I LOVE making cute little bags and things for chocolates for the people at work, and I think I might make a batch of these for our work Spring Fair at the end of March. I have a plan to put mini chocolate eggs in them, but they would be lovely with some bath salts or mini soap too!

Make It Monday How to make a cute mini gift bag with patterned paper from Stampin' Up!

These both use the lovely Bubbles and Fizz Designer Series Paper (available for FREE during Sale-a-bration!), and I think these bright colours make these bags awesome for kids party favours or a school fair! Anyway, the Bubbles and Fizz paper also coordinates with the Bubble Over stamp and die bundle in the Spring Summer catalogue this year. The paper features images that the dies cut out! How cool is that!

Like I mentioned, this Designer Series paper is available for free with a £45 order during Sale-a-bration! Yay!

Techniques | How to create a hard lines watercolour background

How to created hard lines watercolour background with Stampin' Up! inks

StampinByHannah Techniques How to create a hard lines watercolour background

Some weeks working out which technique to share can be a struggle… but not this week! I made the card in this post last week, after I spotted a card on one of the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Facebook groups, and just had so much fun creating the background that I knew I HAD to share it!

Pretty Wedding Card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

This card would be so lovely as a Wedding congratulations, or engagement card. I have used a sentiment from the Oh So Eclectic stamp set, mainly because it coordinates with the dies… but looking at it now a Congratulations sentiment would have worked better!

This is one of those cards with lots of layers… so I will give you a quick run down:

  • Watercoloured technique on Shimmery White card stock (check the video for all the details on this one!)
  • Die cut area using the Eclectic Layers dies. The whole watercoloured panel is popped up on Dimensionals, and I have added some of the die cut pieces back in (in an almost inlay die cut style) with some Gold Glimmer Paper pieces added in too
  • Two leaves punched from Champagne Foil with the Leaf Punch
  • A vellum Everyday Label (punched)
  • Flower die cut from the Eclectic Layers dies in Blushing Bride with a Clear Faceted Gem in the centre
  • Sentiment heat embossed in White, punched with the Classic Label Punch

The focus of this blog post isn’t that card though… it’s about the techniques right!

The background is created with a fun, and quick, watercolour technique that I am calling Hard Lines Watercolour (I’m sure someone else has a better name for it!). I LOVE doing this for a quick and easy background. It’s super pretty when you use a soft colour like Blushing Bride, but it can be really striking in a bolder colour too!

Fun and pretty Valentines card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

I think I have covered everything in the video… it’s really just about adding layers, and drying in between. Using a Heat Tool really helps as the ink drys before it has time to spread out, and therefore gives those lovely hard lines! I could totally play around with this for hours… different colours, different sized paint brushes, different amounts of water all create different effects but they are all so pretty.

The panel I created in this week’s Techniques Video has also been made into a card… and you can see that if you subscribe to my emails in my Stampin’ Inspiration Monday Video!

Learn to Stamp | Birthday Blossoms

Perfect Floral Birthday Wedding Card for Learn to Stamp Club using Birthday Blossoms Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Learn to Stamp | Birthday Blossoms

Learn to stamp Cardmaking 101 online card class

I have been super busy over the past couple of weeks prepping my fabulous new Learn to Stamp Club! I am totally in LOVE with the projects I have created for you. The club features the Birthday Blossoms stamp set, and today’s card is a club reject!

Perfect Floral Birthday Wedding Card using Birthday Blossoms Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!This totally gorgeous creation uses the Birthday Blossoms stamp set and the coordinating Pansy Punch (which also comes as part of the club!). It has a Powder Pink card base, with layers of Melon Mambo and Very Vanilla. I LOVE this colour combination! I will be the first to admit that Melon Mambo is not my favourite Stampin’ Up! pink… it just a bit cold for me. But in this colour combination, Yum!

Learn to stamp club card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up!The punched flowers are stamped in Melon Mambo onto Very Vanilla card stock, and punched out with the coordinating Pansy Punch. I almost left it like that… but you guys know I am OBSESSED with Vellum (I’m almost out…. I have less that one sheet left! It must be time for an order!). So, I added a punched Vellum flower to each stamped one with a Glue Dot. These flowers look even more fabulous with some extra dimension, I do this my gently curling each petal with my fingers.

The flowers are finished with one of the Faceted Gems in Clear.

Perfect Floral Birthday Wedding Card for Learn to Stamp Club using Birthday Blossoms Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

The flowers were added to the card using Fast Fuse (my favourite!) over the top of a background stamped in Powder Pink.

I would LOVE to add you to my Learn to Stamp Club… Club members will receive HEAPS of fun products, exclusive tutorials and videos over the next 6 months. You can find all my Club information under the ‘Club’ tab at the top of the page.

Before I go today… I just want to remind you that today is the LAST DAY for the Buy 3 Get 1 FREE Special on Designer Series Paper. Don’t miss out!

This week’s Make It Monday features the Thank You Gifts that I sent out to the ladies and gentlemen that shopped with me in September. Did you know that each month I make each customer a handmade card and a fun gift…. just as a special ‘Thanks’ for supporting me and my business. I sent my Thank You packs out at the start of the following month, usually about the second week of the month, just because I wait for my Code Club goodies to arrive from Stampin’ Up!

These cute matchbooks use the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper which is currently available on Sale as part of the Designer Series Paper Buy 3 Get 1 Free deal (ends 31st October!). I am LOVING this Designer Series Paper… it is a collection of autumn toned pretty patterns, some sunflowers, some leaf prints, but mostly just really cool generic autumnal prints…. oh and its watercoloured (Yum!).

The Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper coordinated with the Painted Harvest stamp set, and the leaf punch which are also featured on this project…

Make It Monday | Square Bottomed Gift Bag

Make It Monday Square bottomed gift bag candles chocolate lipstick using A Whole Lot of Lovely from Stampin' Up!

Make It Monday

Hello! Welcome to this weeks Make It Monday!
A few weeks ago I attended a Crafty Retreat with 40 of my Stampin’ Sisters, and the next few Make It Mondays are things that have been inspired by project from that weekend. This particular project was inspired by a Swap I received from the lovely Jane Carroll.

Make It Monday Square bottomed gift bag candles chocolate lipstick using A Whole Lot of Lovely from Stampin' Up!

This fun mini gift bag starts off as a pretty standard bag, the trick is in the closing….. Instead of pinching the top, or punching a hole and threading some ribbon, the box is flattened. I have kept it closed with a staple, but you could us a clip or ribbon.

Measurements:

Designer Series Paper – 5 1/2 x 6″ (14 x 15.5 cm)

Score on the short side at: 1 1/4, 2 1/2, 3 3/4 and 5″ (3, 6, 9 and 12 cm)

Score on the long side at: 1 1/4″ (3 cm)

Make It Monday Square bottomed gift bag candles chocolate lipstick using A Whole Lot of Lovely from Stampin' Up!

The Designer Series Paper for the black bag is from A Whole Lot of Lovely, while the white one is Naturally Eclectic. The sentiment is taken from Lovely Inside and Out.

My favourite part of this bag though has to be those cute paper bows. They are super easy to create using the Bow Builder Punch; check the video for how I put them together. I do have a couple of tips though, I would use TomBow glue to stick them together (rather than the glue dots I used for speed in the video), and give the pieces time to dry before assembling the bow. Use a bone folder to create a natural bend in card stock, and use card stock rather than Designer Series Paper.

Global Design Project #72 | Crazy About You

Global Design Project Case the Designer Challenge using Crazy About You from Stampin' Up! UK

Did you think I’d missed the Global Design Project this week? As if I would….. ok, so I almost did! but this CASE the designer challenge has been on my mind all week. I think I have made about 10 cards in my head, but only one out of actually paper (not that it is anything like what I had planned!)

How fabulous is this card from Krista Frattin, very pretty. The dotty background has been a feature of every single card I have imagined for this challenge this week, but how to execute this has changed a few times. Krista used one of the now retired dotty glassine bags, and I almost followed suit because I have a few of this left in my stash. But change my mind, opting to stamp with Whisper White Craft Ink into Vellum instead.

Global Design Project Case the Designer Challenge Thanks for being You card using Crazy About You from Stampin' Up! UK

I had ideas of die cutting, and squares… and then I found my punch drawer instead! Although the circle is die cut using the Layering Circles dies. I intitially wasn’t aiming to use Krista’s colour combination, opting to use her card as a sketch, but I am pushing myself to make this a challenge at the moment, and her colours weren’t a combination I have used… So I did it! Calypso Coral, Cucumber Crush, Sahara Sand and Basic Black

Global Design Project Case the Designer Challenge using Crazy About You from Stampin' Up! UK

I had also considered heat embossing and all kinds of things for this sentiment. But you know, sometimes simple is better, and so stamped in Basic Black onto Whisper White and cut out by hand won out this time.

Thanks for checking out my blog today. I hope to see you here again soon

Question of the day: How would YOU take on this card, I would love to see you versions. Make a card today and take a picture and share it with me on Facebook, go on, I dare you!
